Aussie Aussie Aussie

Im not gunna appease you all with the oi oi oi. Haha

G'day G'day,
How ya goin?

Ive been researching eParrots and the like for the best part of 10-12 months. And even started on my own arduino coding adventure (had never done anything like it before) and then today finally stumbled on this forum while searching about temp corrected ABV and water/ethanol densities as im starting to look at developing a scale to convert weight to mls for tracking cuts.

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this little gem.
All I can say is wow, you guys are doing great work over here, I've looked at the power controller and Edwin's code and it boggles my mind just how much I have to learn.

Anyways...

Ive been an avid AG brewer for the best part of 10 years and distiller of AG malt whisky and corn whiskey for near on 3.
Ive got an 11kw 3v brewery of which the controller I made offered some power control. Alarms and water pumps to my modular plate still.
Cant wait to get this transferred over to my Adafruit grand central m4 express.

In conjunction with my build (which is probably obsolete now) ive ordered proportional intergral valves and Auber Syl-2381 PID to manage my helix reflux condenser and shotgun product condenser. With the aim of handing that over to code in time.

I also recently finished a more analogue type panel for a friend to manage his single vessel BIAB and a still function with solinoid valves to manage his deflag water for automatic control of his plate still.

Been reading this site all day and just can't put it down. Thank you so much for sharing this resource.

Cheers K3, I saw ShiFu was selling kits back start of 2019? Is that still a thing? If so I have a mate that would be keen.

As for my eparrot I wanna keep trucking on that.
Eventually I'll need help from better coders then myself, do we have many here?

So far I have a boiler ABV, a coloum ABV (both of which are a s3lf derived look up table, no where near as complex or complete as edwins), temp corrected abv, density look up table and weight to mls calculation for cut size and ABV.
I also have a find boiler start ABV and a enter boiler charge volume to find recoverable volume equation.

Additionally I have a multitude of temperature alarms, defferential pressure transducer and a MQ-3 ethanol sniffer and water flow sensor.

All my protection methods either increase water flow. Put still into full reflux, or shut of elements, they also set of audible buzzers flashy lights and in severe cases removes the safety interlock to release the control panel line contractor.

My builds a big panel on 32amp 3 phase and im also using emon lib as a 3phase volt amp power meter that can also track power consumption and that elements are off in safety modes.

Its getting there. Still to do is take the 2x 20x4 LCD displays to a 5"colour TFT and incorporate the load cells. Then onto RTC and data logger. Thankfully the grandcentral M4 express has plenty of memory

Well I'am not sure if Shifu still has some kits left, just send a pm.

According to coding Edwin and Shifu are some of the old crew,as the forum is not that active at the moment.

Most people only come to take info but contribute almost nothing.

There are many ways for automation, and technick is evaluating.
In case you want to read abv you need the right sensor ,a  pmt sensor or a ds18b20 are useless, the only sensor for hobbyist available is the smt172.

Ill have to wait till my 1st 24rs is up.

Thats a real bummer. Looks like such a great forum.
ShiFu and edwin come across as pretty intelligent in what id read so far.

DS18B20 seems to work for the level of accuracy in my ABV table, whole %s.
I do have a dual element RTD100 and that had .1C accuracy and that wasn't any better then the ds18b20 due to the resolution in my code.
I only just found all this eparrot stuff and will definatly be grazing some smt172 to try, though assume again my code will be the lowest common denominator

Instead of a tft screen I would think about a reaspberry phi with screen, with all benefits.
You can connect a Uno for the readout of the smt172 .

There is a project on a Dutch forum with the phi  and node red.

I myself use a commercial automation called Hello Distiller, you can find it here on the forum, supported to android tablets, true
Blue tooth   wifi direct   or by remote control from all over the world.

Whats the hello distiller worth?

The raspberry pi is something ive considered.
In terms of coding a lot of things are way over my head at this point. Haha

Well the eparrot is great but it is not a automation.
So I came to the hello distiller http://eparrot.org/index.php/topic,586.0.html

And yes that are koi ,some over 20 years old  :)

According to the raspberry I followed that project and the guy that presented it took everyone by the hand,so we were all followers,at this moment the project is not making progress due to his work.

Bummer the pi projects on hold.

That automation controller looks good.
Ill have to find more info.
Seems very reasonably priced if the exchange rate i looked up is accurate

I was always looking for a controller that was working with a android app,and this is till now the only one.
You can find it in the play store and have a look.
Not all is working as there is no controller connection but it gives a idea.
