my old builds
« on: September 28, 2018, 11:48:40 PM »
I would like to show you some of my build out of the old days.
They are full of dust, but I like to do it and open some of them up.
The first item is a amplifier for the 10 meter band made from an old high voltage tube coming from a television,If I remeber well it makes up to 65 watts.
I had to wind the transformer for the high voltage myself ,made the enclosure myself , and all the coils, pcb , and to be precise allmost al I could made myself I did ,as the mony level was very low at that time of my life.
The joy making someting like that was great ,and now after maybe 30 years I opened the enclosure and almost got emotional.
I have to add that I started as a illigal radio amateur, after that I did some studie and went true 3 examinations to got from the lowest license to the middle and after that the A license.

The second build is a transverter it makes from a tranceiver into the 144 mhz range  a additional tranceiver into the 433 mhz.
This by the use of added frequencies that are mixed with the original ones.
So at the input you connect the original 144 mhz tranceiver and on the output the 433 mhz antenna.
Unfortunate I can not take out the complete pcb to show the bottom etched side but believe me it was made by photo printing and almost
no one was doing this as it was a pretty new way to make pcb boards.
Almost all I could make myself I did,the output was only about 50 milliwatts BUT that was no problem as it was easy to add a home made amplifier.
Difficult things to do was adding relays to switch transmitting and receiving with respect to the impedance of about 50 ohm.
I will not go into further deeper technical details as for most people this is not interresting , I just wanted to show someting I made in the past.
Also for this build I made the enclosure myself.
