Welcome back.
The new printer is a joy to use compared to the old one.
Extremely accurate prints even before spending a day or more on the fine calibration.
(Extruder multiple turned out to be 1.0976, on this machine, to dial it in precisely.)
Huge thanks to this site for the calibration tutorial.

Been using the FREE! Slic3r software instead of the paid for Simplify3D for a few days and its really impressive And Dead Simple to use.

The machine was shipped with a free spool of Purple filament so everything lately is PURPLE.

Well.. a couple more tweaks printing now.  I have put the sdcard cutout on the front face.  Still need to figure out how to route the ribbon cable but should work.

Well...  this is it...  I'm going to make one last tweak off a half moon cutout by the sdcard to make it easier but it works.  Ribbon cable is a trip but there is room.

Ok..  I'll make that quick change and post them.  You can print the next ones and see if it works as it should.  Gimme 20 minutes:-)

Beginning the print...

Printed the quick, small parts first and now onto the case body and lid, that will take some time.

Going for yellow case with red buttons and bezel for the test print.

Nice:-)  does your printer have a heated build plate?  Looks like a nice machine

Yes it does have a heated build-plate. There is just no printing on this plate - a really neat trick as it makes what is being printed more visible. (Maybe a safety requirement in other countries - I don't know.)
I only print PLA so build-plate temperature is not very critical. I keep it about 36 to 40C which is not much more than ambient.
Someday maybe I'll enclose it and try printing ABS.

We're really liking the color choice so far, especially the yellow. But thinking I may try a Red, Green and Blue motif in tribute to RGB.

For about 200 bucks, completely assembled and delivered to my door, running only free modelling and slicing software, this printer is a hoot to use. I especially like the more modern hot-end and tool-less filament changes.

I need to adjust my printer settings a bit, everything is just too tight.
I'm really sure its me so will reprint everything again tomorrow.
SHE doesn't care for the proposed RGB color scheme for the case so I'll stick with the yellow.

The last piece, the back of the box, is printing now so no picture of that yet.

This is what we have to show so far...

The microSD card socket seems perfect. It easily ejects the card when needed and securely holds it in place when in use.

Got the base printed. And it came out Much better than the main body - thanks to a few slicing software "Aha moments". (I've been getting a lot of those this week.)

Still need to adjust my printer software a bit (but its much better now) and also work out the holes for the sensor leads.

A few small improvements could be made but I'll get the printer better tuned before bothering Jeff. There's a good chance some or all of the improvements won't be necessary if I'm producing prints that are a bit more perfect.

Good progress today. Found the flaws in my slicer settings, the sd card placement is just great and the buttons are perfect.
Thanks Jeff!

**Note to self, order more yellow filament. Soon.
Got the feeling I'll be printing a few more of these over the next couple of weeks before this project is

I am stoked the SDcard holder worked so well for you... Made that quick change before I sent the files.  It does look like you have some extrusion issues.  Maybe overextruding?  How is the tolerance of the filament?  My machines are very well calibrated as they need to be in order to print some of my designs :)

Looking good though..  Once you get it knocked out I will gladly go in and update things for you.

As I am sure you know too you could always scale by a % or 2 and see if that helps.

Na, nothing as drastic as that.
I simply failed to change layer heights back to 0.35 from 0.08 after printing the buttons.
This caused the walls to be very rough instead of smooth, and a Very long print time.

I think everything should print OK now.

I do check the filament diameter regularly and adjust the slicer software when needed. My 0.175mm PLA is consistently closer to 0.172mm.
Nozzle temperature is mostly a guess. 200 to 210'C is my comfort zone... the zone where I have the least amount of problems. Nozzle temperature deserves a good, long Googling. Someday.

Here's a picture of Edwin's RBG eParrot in Jeff's custom enclosure. Now fully functional.
I put S-hooks on mine since it will hang outside while distilling.

The eParrot sketch and the enclosure both could use a bit of polish. They are light years ahead of anything else.

A simple improvement would be placing the holes for the sensor leads differently from what I did.

On my next attempt, I'll place the Boiler lead on the bottom of the enclosure.
And the lead for the Column will be on the top.
That puts each sensor a little closer to where it needs to be and avoids any confusion of which sensor goes where.
